Where Hearts are Heard
|

VisitorsHere are answers to common questions from our visitors:Q. What is People's UMC?A. We are sent as a community of faith to reach out by:
1) Listening openly
2) Loving Unconditionally
3) Inviting all to hear the good news of Jesus Christ
4) We share Gods love through circles small enough to care for each and large enough to encompass all.
Q. What do you believe?A. The United Methodist Church is a worldwide Christian denomination of more than ten million members. We believe in: putting faith and love into action; taking an active stance in society; that Christian faith is grounded in the love and grace of God, experienced through Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit; and that the mission of the United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ. We are all individuals, sharing a faith in Jesus Christ, but encouraged to think for ourselves so we don’t necessarily share the same opinions about every faith issue or social concern. For more about the social principles and mission activities of the United Methodist Church, see www.umc.org.
Q. May I participate in Holy Communion?A. Yes. The United Methodist communion table is open to all who desire to lead a Christian life, regardless of age or church affiliation.
Q. When are your services and what are they like?A. We have three services: Saturday evening at 5pm, Sunday at 9:15am & 10:30am. Our services are considered to be a blend of traditional and contemporary elements.
Q. How do people dress for church?A. Dress is casual, come as you are!
Q. What happens to my children during worship?A. Children are welcome to attend all worship services. The nursery is also available for ages birth-5. Sunday's at 9am children are invited up front for a children's message and then are dismissed to participate in Sunday school programming.
Q. Do you offer Sunday school classes?A. Yes! We offer a variety of Sunday school classes for children, youth and adults. For details click here.
Q. Do you have a nursery?A. Yes! Our nursery is available for infants through age 5. It is open on Sundays for the worship services and for other church events and adult programming as needed.
Q. Do you have programs for teenagers?A. Yes! Under the direction of our Child & Youth director, youth have regular weekly fellowship, confirmation, summer mission trips, youth choir and drama and more! For more information or questions, please contact the Child & Youth Co-Coordinators.
Q. Will I be singled out as a visitor?A. Our usher teams are dedicated to a ministry of hospitality. They try to greet each and every person by answering questions, providing information, directions and simply offering a warm welcome. During worship, an attendance pad is passed. If you choose to sign the pad, we will simply follow-up with a "welcome, we're glad you came to worship with us" letter. That's it, no pressure.
Q. How do I learn more about People's UMC?A. First step is to visit us during one of our worship services, explore all that we have to offer through our website and the discipleship classes. We offer a membership inquiry class when you are ready. You will meet as a group or individually with the pastor, it's up to you!
